Opportunities Throughout the Year

Central Union Church offers a diverse and nationally-known music program that is an important part of the life of our faith community. We welcome you to be a part of our "joyful noise." The Ministry of Music shares the "good news" of God's unfailing love to all.

Our Gift of Music features musicians from the church, the community, and the mainland who provide a 15-minute pre-service program.

The Chancel Choir (adults) is a voluntary assembly of singers. They gather weekly for rehearsals on Thursday evenings to prepare gifts of song and music for the Sunday 9:00 a.m. service in the main sanctuary September through May, as well as on Christmas Eve.

On the first Sunday of each month the children participate at the 9:00 a.m. service with the WinGS Singers during Sunday School. This musical group focuses on community building, spiritual and musical growth, pedagogy and the selection of appropriate repertoire.

The Oratorio Choir (adults) combines its musical gifts with those of the Handel Festival Orchestra and soloists each late-November for the annual Handel•s Messiah Concert. These performances have included renowned soloists Catherine Goto (soprano), Debbie Kelsey (alto), Kalani Brady (tenor), and Christopher Kelsey (baritone).

YOUTH ON THE MOVE! features our young people from grades 6-12 who sing at least one Sunday each month.

The Summer Choir (adults) includes 35-55 singers who gather together on Sunday mornings in June and July to arrange and deliver their musical gifts for 9:00 a.m. worship.

Our Contemporary Worship Team also provides music for our 11:30 a.m. service.

The Beretania Bells is an 11-member hand bell choir comprised of dedicated and self-motivated adults who meet weekly for rehearsals, refreshments and fellowship. Not to be missed are our Keiki Klappers, a group of elementary school-age children who work with adult mentors and presented its first concert on Children's Sunday in May 2006.
