SUMMARY:Advent Study: What do you fear?
DESCRIPTION:This Advent\, we invite you to a soul-stirring study led by Pastor Rushan. Drawing from the opening line of Luke’s Gospel—“In the time of Herod…”—this series explores the fearful and uncertain world into which Jesus was born\, one marked by oppression\, instability\, and economic disparity. It’s a world not unlike our own. Yet\, amid the darkness\, the angels proclaim a radical message: “Do not fear.” Through the stories of Mary\, Joseph\, the shepherds\, and the magi\, we’ll reflect on how faith doesn’t erase fear but moves through it with courage\, trust\, and hope. \nThis study invites us to name our fears\, examine how fear operates in our lives and communities\, and discover how God is breaking in with good news. Together\, we’ll explore how fear can be transformed into love and action\, and how insisting on hope—even trembling hope—can be a powerful spiritual practice. \nCome as you are—bring your questions\, your fears\, and your hope. SUMMARY:Young(ish) Adults Christmas Party
DESCRIPTION:Young(ish) adults (generations X\, Y\, Z—from college age to parents of young kids) are invited to CUC’s Young(ish) Adults Christmas Party! Come for a time of fellowship and fun as we party hearty and celebrate Christmas! \n\n\nPOTLUCK – Bring some food/dessert to share if you can! (No worries if you can’t. Please just come!) \nKIDS – To our young(ish) parents with kids\, you are welcome to bring them with you. The party will be geared toward adults\, but we’ll have a little keiki corner where the kids can hopefully keep themselves entertained while we party hearty.\n\nOPTIONAL GIFT EXCHANGE – Bring a wrapped gift to participate. CHALLENGE: DON’T SPEND ANY MONEY! Society makes Christmas a time of hyperconsumerism. Instead of filling the pockets of corporations\, stressing out about spending money\, and accumulating more stuff\, let’s have the fun of exchanging gifts with little cost. Re-gift/re-home/make something someone else can use & enjoy. Be creative & considerate\, but don’t stress! (Don’t give something that you wouldn’t want to receive.)\n\nGROUP GIFT– Instead of spending money on gifts for each other\, we invite you to bring any amount of cash (or Venmo) to contribute to a group gift. We’ll vote on a local organization and pool our money to make one donation as the young adults of Central Union. Whether you can give $1 or $100\, the goal is simply participation and sharing from our collective abundance to contribute to a more just world.\n\nRSVP – Please let us know if you can make it and if you’ll be bringing anyone with you so we can better prepare!
