DESCRIPTION:God is still speaking… Are you listening?\n“The Old Testament\, the New Testament\, the TODAY Testament”\n\nJoin us for this Learning Tree session as church member Nani Elm shares her testimony of faith\, healing\, and hope as she has navigated her personal journey to wellness and continues to do so.\n\nNani was born and raised on O‘ahu and Central Union Church has been her family’s church for five generations.  She is a mother of four children\, and can sometimes be seen dancing hula during our church services. \nFor 27 years\, she had a career in the world of performing arts (performing professionally and teaching).  In 2020 she experienced a health crisis and was completely bedridden for many months\, and then continued to be home bound for months after that. As she started to get better\, it spurred a desire to use her experience to help others.  She went back to school (online) and obtained certifications from HCI (Health Coach Institute) in nutrition coaching\, life coaching\, health coaching\, and empowered well-being coaching.  She became board certified with the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP) as a holistic health practitioner. She is also Board certified with the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches (NBHWC). \nDuring the time she was completely bed-ridden\, she begged God to bring something good out of “the awfulness”. She did not want her suffering to be for nothing. She also prayed that God would allow her to help others. \nBecause of her own personal journey to health and wellness\, she knows first hand what it is like to completely change habits\, ways of thinking\, and implement major lifestyle changes and maintain those positive changes.  She knows the challenges\, the difficulties\, and struggles\, but also knows the rewards and benefits of creating a positive\, healthy lifestyle that leads to wellness that includes Physical\, Mental\, Emotional\, and Spiritual well-being. Now\, she wants to share her testimony and what she has done to come this far.

DESCRIPTION:Ash Wednesday marks the onset of Lent\, the 40-day period of reflection\, repentance\, and preparation leading up to the celebration of Easter and resurrection. \nOn Ash Wednesday\, also known as the ‘Day of Ashes’\, the church invites all to have their foreheads marked with ashes in the shape of a cross as a sign of humility and mortality; and as a sign of sorrow and remorse for the pain we’ve experienced and the harm we’ve caused. We remember that we are dust\, and to dust we will return (Genesis 3:19). \nIn our busy culture\, the Lenten season is a gift. It offers us a time to slow down\, breathe deep\, and focus on our spiritual practices – those habits that draw us nearer to God and help us to sense the Spirit’s movement in our lives. \nJoin us for a simple evening service including music\, meditation\, and imposition of ashes\, as we begin the season of Lent remembering our impermanence and humanity.

DESCRIPTION:Godly Play is a method of faith formation for all ages that makes meaning through story\, wonder\, and play\, nurturing spiritual lives by honoring the centrality\, competency\, and capacity of children. Its special curriculum helps all explore the mystery of God’s presence\, learn the language of faith\, and make authentic and creative responses to God’s call in our lives. Godly Play can be used in Sunday School programs and is also powerful in clinical settings such as hospice\, hospitals\, veterans groups\, addiction recovery settings\, and more! \n\n\n\n\nCome see for yourself! Attend a Godly Play Informational Session at Central Union Church. This is for adults who want to explore their faith in a new way\, and just anyone interested! \nThis info session will be held on Saturday\, March 8\, 2025 from 10 AM to 2 PM\, in the Women’s Building of Central Union Church. Experience a full Godly Play Session\, ask questions\, and learn about the many different ways in which Godly Play is being utilized.
