DESCRIPTION:Ash Wednesday marks the onset of Lent\, the 40-day period of reflection\, repentance\, and preparation leading up to the celebration of Easter and resurrection. \nOn Ash Wednesday\, also known as the ‘Day of Ashes’\, the church invites all to have their foreheads marked with ashes in the shape of a cross as a sign of humility and mortality; and as a sign of sorrow and remorse for the pain we’ve experienced and the harm we’ve caused. We remember that we are dust\, and to dust we will return (Genesis 3:19). \nIn our busy culture\, the Lenten season is a gift. It offers us a time to slow down\, breathe deep\, and focus on our spiritual practices – those habits that draw us nearer to God and help us to sense the Spirit’s movement in our lives. \nJoin us for a simple evening service including music\, meditation\, and imposition of ashes\, as we begin the season of Lent remembering our impermanence and humanity.

Attend a Godly Play Informational Session at Central Union Church. SUMMARY:Godly Play Storyteller Training (Part 1/3)
DESCRIPTION:Godly Play is a method of faith formation for all ages that makes meaning through story\, wonder\, and play\, nurturing spiritual lives by honoring the centrality\, competency\, and capacity of children. Its special curriculum helps all explore the mystery of God’s presence\, learn the language of\nfaith\, and make authentic and creative responses to God’s call in our lives. Godly Play can be used in Sunday School programs and is also powerful in clinical settings such as hospice\, hospitals\, veterans groups\, addiction recovery settings\, and more! \nThe Children’s Ministry of Central Union Church is partnering with Epiphany Episcopal Church (Kaimuki\, O‘ahu) to host a Godly Play storyteller training in person on three Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Training will be held on March 29 and May 3 (at Central Union) and May 31 (at Epiphany Episcopal). \nAnyone is eligible for training — no need for previous knowledge\, training\, or experience… an open heart and willingness to learn are the only requirements! To complete the training\, one must attend all three sessions.
