This beloved oratorio is a perfect way to prepare for Christmas! \n\nThis year Central Union Church celebrates the 76th anniversary performance of Handel’s Messiah on Sunday\, December 14\, 2025\, at 7:30 PM in our 100-year-old sanctuary. This cherished tradition marks the beginning of the Christmas season for many in our community\, bringing together the timeless beauty of Handel’s masterpiece with the rich musical heritage of Central Union Church.\n\nMargaret Lloyd\, Director of Music Ministries at Central Union Church\, shares\, “The Messiah is more than just a concert; it’s a celebration of our faith and community.”\n\nRev. DESCRIPTION:Young(ish) adults (generations X\, Y\, Z—from college age to parents of young kids) are invited to CUC’s Young(ish) Adults Christmas Party! Come for a time of fellowship and fun as we party hearty and celebrate Christmas! \n\n\nPOTLUCK – Bring some food/dessert to share if you can! (No worries if you can’t. Please just come!) \nKIDS – To our young(ish) parents with kids\, you are welcome to bring them with you. The party will be geared toward adults\, but we’ll have a little keiki corner where the kids can hopefully keep themselves entertained while we party hearty.\n\nOPTIONAL GIFT EXCHANGE – Bring a wrapped gift to participate. CHALLENGE: DON’T SPEND ANY MONEY! Society makes Christmas a time of hyperconsumerism. Instead of filling the pockets of corporations\, stressing out about spending money\, and accumulating more stuff\, let’s have the fun of exchanging gifts with little cost. Re-gift/re-home/make something someone else can use & enjoy. Be creative & considerate\, but don’t stress! (Don’t give something that you wouldn’t want to receive.)\n\nGROUP GIFT– Instead of spending money on gifts for each other\, we invite you to bring any amount of cash (or Venmo) to contribute to a group gift. We’ll vote on a local organization and pool our money to make one donation as the young adults of Central Union. DESCRIPTION:Worship with us on the fourth Sunday of Advent as we light the candle of JOY! \nOn December 21 at 10 AM\, Central Union Church will come together for ONE combined worship service featuring our heartwarming
 White Gifts celebration and Christmas pageant.
 All are welcome! \nCome and worship and hear the Christmas story told through music!
 Kids can participate in the pageant as an angel or shepherd—no rehearsal needed.
 Just come by 9:50 AM and meet in the Von Hamm room at the main Sanctuary entrance. \nCan’t make it in person? View the live stream on YouTube! \nAfter worship\, come join the merriment just steps away at our Christmas Open House! Step into a wonderland of warmth\, laughter\, and holiday cheer as we gather for a whole-church celebration that’s merry\, magical\, and made for all ages. \n✴Bring a plate of your favorite Christmas cookies (finger-food only\, please)! \n✴Sip on hot cocoa\, coffee\, and juice served by our Welcome & Engagement Ministry! \n✴Enjoy festive music\, sweet treats\, and joyful conversation! \n✴Reconnect with old friends\, make new ones\, and celebrate as one church ‘ohana! \nWhether you come dressed in jingle bells or holiday sweaters\, with keiki in tow or cookies in hand\, we can’t wait to celebrate the season with you! DESCRIPTION:A Service of Compassion and Hope\n\n\nCentral Union Church will offer a Service of Compassion and Hope on the Winter Solstice\, the Longest Night\, Sunday\, December 21st at 6:30 pm in Atherton Memorial Chapel.\n\nThis service is especially for those in the community who need the space to grieve\, mourn\, or simply “be” – especially when the joy of the holiday season is elusive and out of reach.\n\nIn past years\, like many churches during the Advent season\, we’ve held a “Blue Christmas” service. Similarly\, this service is designed to provide space for prayer\, reflection\, and remembrance amidst the twinkling lights and holiday hustle and bustle.\n\nIn this season\, we acknowledge the grief and exhaustion that so many of us are feeling with all that is going on in the world and in our own personal lives. Bring your grief. Bring your weariness. Bring your fatigue. Allow yourself a quiet space to reflect and draw nearer to God.\n\nWe hope that this service can be a gift to individuals and to our community alike\, providing a space of calm\, quiet\, and healing for the journey.
