Coming Home to the Heart of Prayer: A New Sermon Series on the Lord’s Prayer
This October and November, we gather around one of the most beloved and powerful prayers in all of Christianity: The Lord’s Prayer. Spoken by Jesus, prayed by generations, and etched into the hearts of believers across cultures and centuries, this prayer is more than a ritual—it’s a roadmap for living, forgiving, and belonging.
In this new sermon series, we won’t just recite the familiar words. We’ll rediscover them. Each week, we’ll explore a different phrase of the prayer, unpacking its meaning through fresh translations, poetic renderings, and the lens of our own lived stories. From “Our Father” to “Deliver us from evil,” we’ll ask: What does this prayer sound like in the language of liberation? What does it feel like when sung in community? How does it call us to action in today’s world?
We will use various translations of the Lord’s Prayer—some ancient, some contemporary— and we will also sing some different settings of this Prayer, letting melody deepen our understanding and open our hearts. Whether you’ve prayed this prayer a thousand times or are hearing it anew, you’ll find space to reflect, rejoice, and reimagine.
This is not just a sermon series. It’s a spiritual homecoming. A chance to return to the center, to the words that shaped our faith, and to the God who meets us in every syllable.
Come curious. Come open. Come ready to be transformed.
