Marking the Deaths of Those Killed in Gaza
This interfaith service will center around a speaking of the names of people killed in Gaza, interspersed with prayers and readings by representatives of various faith traditions. Children make up a large percentage of the death toll in Gaza which surpassed 75,000 a year ago and is rising still, even after a ceasefire was declared last October. While focusing on Gaza, there will also be wider calls for peace and justice in the world.
We are called to “Weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15).
All people of conscience are welcome.
Please join us in solidarity on Saturday, May 16, from 3-6 PM in the Sanctuary or online. Come and leave as you need.
If you are coming in person and willing to help speak aloud some of the names (to be read from a provided list), there may be an opportunity to participate in this way. Contact kristen-young@centralunionchurch.org.
May our grief be transformed into collective action for peace and justice.
Organized by Faith Action for Community Equity, Central Union Church, Hawai‘i Quaker Friends Committee on National Legislation, in partnership with faith leaders from the community.
(This event has been rescheduled from March 14 due to severe weather.)
