From Pastor Irene, Associate Minister
Aloha CUC Young(ish) Adults,
Let’s eat dinner and imagine stuff together!
I’d love to get everyone together for Dinner Church on Wednesday, October 14, from 6:30–7:30pm in the Parish Hall (Honolulu campus). We’ll have dinner catered by Da Spot, childcare will be provided, and you don’t need to bring or prepare anything. Just come.
I’m new, and I want to know you! I want to hear your stories, what you love about this church, what you wish were different, and what you hope this community could become. But I’m also interested in you beyond church—what you’re dreaming about, what you’re trying to figure out, what matters to you right now, and where you sense God might be doing something in your life.
I’ll bring some spiritual prompts for us to talk about while we eat. Nothing overly churchy, no homework, and nobody is getting cold-called for the correct theological answer. Just some questions that will hopefully get us past small talk and into the stuff that actually matters.
You all already have relationships and have continued gathering, so this isn’t about starting something from scratch. I’d love to use this dinner to think together about what comes next—how often we want to gather, what we want to do together, and how this group can make a real difference in each other’s lives, our kids’ lives, and our wider community. I have some ideas, but I’d much rather figure out the direction together.
So let’s get around a table, eat some good food, get to know each other better, and dream about what we want this community to become.
