Sing in the 77th Presentation of Messiah at Central Union Church in 2026

Aloha mai kākou,

On behalf of Central Union’s ministry of music, it is with great excitement that we invite you to sing in our 77th annual presentation of Handel’s Messiah on Sunday, December 13, at 7:30 PM, as our community ensemble, The Hawai‘i Nui Chorale, an ensemble dedicated to the performance of extended choral works. Our rehearsal schedule and locations below. Our six Thursday rehearsals, dress rehearsal, and performance will be conducted by Sarah Young, Director of Choirs at Central Union Church.

We encourage pre-registration. HERE is a link to the online registration form. Scores will be available to be borrowed, however, if you would like to purchase your own personal copy, we will have it available for $14.

 

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

Six Thursday Rehearsals:
Dates: October 29; November 5, 12, 19; December 3, 10*
Time: 6:00 – 8:00pm
Location: Music Building, Central Union Church Honolulu
*Thursday, December 10 Rehearsal will be held in the Sanctuary.


Dress Rehearsal:
Date: Saturday, December 12
Times: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Sanctuary, Central Union Church Honolulu

Pre-performance:
Date: Sunday, December 13
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: Atherton Chapel, Central Union Church Honolulu

Concert & Performance 
Date: Sunday, December 13
Time: 7:30 PM
Location: Sanctuary, Central Union Church Honolulu

Parking during rehearsals: Please park in the Beretania or Punahou parking lots; if both lots are full, then please park at the Ewa end of The Great Lawn.

 

Attendance Policy

In recognition of the busy season, we are offering flexibility for members of the Hawai‘i Nui Chorale to miss up to two rehearsals. To ensure we are concert-ready, please note that attendance to our Saturday Dress Rehearsal is required for everyone. If you anticipate any scheduling conflicts, please notify our Director of Choirs, Sarah Young, via the registration link. Mahalo for your dedication to our music!

 

Concert Attire

  • Women: black dress OR black top with sleeves (cap/short/long) and black skirt (to the knee) or black dress slacks; black dress shoes
  • Men: black collared shirt (short/long sleeve); black dress trousers; black socks; black dress shoes
