A Service of Compassion and Hope
Central Union Church will offer a Service of Compassion and Hope on the Winter Solstice, the Longest Night, Saturday, December 21st at 6:30 pm in Atherton Memorial Chapel.
This service is especially for those in the community who need the space to grieve, mourn, or simply “be” – especially when the joy of the holiday season is elusive and out of reach.
In past years, like many churches during the Advent season, we’ve held a “Blue Christmas” service. Similarly, this service is designed to provide space for prayer, reflection, and remembrance amidst the twinkling lights and holiday hustle and bustle.
In this season, we acknowledge the grief and exhaustion that so many of us are feeling with all that is going on in the world and in our own personal lives. Bring your grief. Bring your weariness. Bring your fatigue. Allow yourself a quiet space to reflect and draw nearer to God.
We hope that this service can be a gift to individuals and to our community alike, providing a space of calm, quiet, and healing for the journey.
