Today’s Reading: Hebrews 10:24

When I was growing up, I had lots of friends, but I had one particular “adventure friend.” Each time we got together, I knew that things were going to be exciting and wild! I’m sure that our parents grew tired of us spending time together because of the shenanigans we got into and the messes we created. We just seemed to spark one another’s imagination, so even the smallest ideas became giant and soon, our parents would find us moving furniture around and creating whole worlds to play in.

While the shenanigans have changed, I still find myself seeking out friends who inspire creativity and help me to expand my way of thinking. I need friends to help me see that while my childhood may be over, playtime doesn’t have to be. Sometimes, I need to be reminded to put down work and listen instead for the call of adventure, for the call of God.

Who inspires you to adventure? Who helps you to step outside your comfort zone? Is there a person in your life who pushes you to try new things or to think about things in a new way? Who inspires you to act more justly and with greater compassion?

Who do you inspire to adventure? Who in your life is in need of extra encouragement to let go of adult stresses and return to “playtime” this week? How might you support your loved ones as they open themselves to new experiences? How might you lead by example and inspire others to act with justice, kindness, and mercy?

“As soon as I saw you, I knew a grand adventure was about to happen.”
