“What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; there is nothing new under the sun.” —Ecclesiastes 1:9
“New Beginnings; Ancient Wisdom”
Written by K.R. Harding
The seasons come and go, and their significance keeps changing with the times. Fall used to be a time of Harvest, of reaping what had been sown. But now, Fall can represent new beginnings, especially with the start of a new semester at most colleges and universities.
Here, at Central Union Church, we are about to begin another chapter in our storied past, as we await the arrival of a new senior pastor, Rev. Rushan Sinnaduray. He and his family move into the Manse this week, and Pastor Rushan will start preaching on Sunday, September 24.
Even with new beginnings, ancient wisdom teaches, “there is nothing new under the sun.” All things are interconnected, as conveyed so poignantly, so vividly, by almost all Indigenous cultures. So, as we welcome Rev. Sinnaduray into our midst, let us be ever-mindful to properly “fear” the LORD, in Creator’s almighty, most powerful, and sweet, all-Loving, eternal Embrace!
