The BacPac Project: A Ministry of Hope and Hospitality
When someone is released from prison, the road ahead can feel uncertain and lonely. A simple backpack—filled with essential items and offered with love—can be a powerful symbol of welcome, dignity, and care.
Churches across Honolulu are supporting this meaningful ministry. Each backpack is thoughtfully packed with supplies and blessed during Sunday worship, becoming a tangible expression of grace and compassion.
We’ll be packing backpacks here at Central Union on Saturday, October 18 at 9 AM in the Women’s Building. Come lend a hand, share in fellowship, help prepare these gifts of hope, and learn more about this vital ministry.
Then, on Sunday, October 19, we’ll bless the backpacks during all worship services—lifting up in prayer those who will receive them and the journey they are about to begin.
Together, we can weave a lei of support for those re-entering society. Your presence matters. Your prayers matter. Join us and let’s make a difference, one backpack at a time.
This project is sponsored by our Community Ministry.
