“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
There is an ongoing conversation between the Creator and Creation.  You could think of it as a dialogue.  Sometimes I imagine two musicians continually composing an everlasting song.  They respond to each other’s melodies and harmonize with one another.  We refer to this connection as prayer.  It is compromised of the prayers spoken on a Sunday morning, the throughout the night, and the birdsong at dawn.  All of life contributes to the conversation and we are welcome to be a part of it.

God welcomes us to step into the conversation.  We are welcome to listen.  We are welcome to add our voice.  We may bring a request, a question, a praise or a protest.  God does not limit who can join the conversation and God does not restrict the expressions of our heart.  God will not bar us from this sacred conversation nor are we required to earn the right to be heard.  When we pray we are stepping into this timeless conversation and announcing that we have something to offer.

Creation as a whole, prays without ceasing and whether we are saying the Lord’s Prayer, meditating in silence, or enjoying the world God has made, we are joining in.  We are more connected to creation than we fully realize and we are closer to God than it seems.
