“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” – Ephesians 6:18

Written by Rev. Brandon Durán

Every Wednesday the Central Union town-side campus is abuzz with Serving Aloha.  The program of Community Ministry is a profound testament to the Holy Spirit working in and through the members of the church.  The effort feeds hundreds of households each week with bags of groceries.  The volunteers who bring Serving Aloha to life have a desire to nourish the soul as well.

Every Wednesday a volunteer crafts a prayer, special for that week.  The prayer is printed on a simple slip of paper offered to all who come.  As many of the guests speak Chinese, the prayers are written in both English and Chinese.  Below are some of the prayers that have been offered over the last several weeks.

My hope is that one of these prayers can become a mantra of your heart this day.

Dear God,

I want to take a minute not to ask for anything from you but to simply say, “Thank You” for all I have.

Amen.

Thank you, Lord

I dwell upon the goodness in my life.

Thank you.

I cherish in my heart your gift to me.

Thank you.

I notice the blessings of life, breath, loving, and sharing.

I am so very grateful.

Amen

With every breath I take today, I vow to be awake; and every step I take, I vow to take with a grateful heart.  So, I may see with eyes of love into hearts of all I meet, to ease their burden when I can and touch them with a smile of peace.

Amen

God of Grace, in every season, in every moment, may we find you calling us to be more fully in your presence remembering we are your beloved children. Who, in turn, love and care for each other.

In your Name, always, Amen.

If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower.

And everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.

Amen
